Shiwa Ng’andu Horse Safaris

Shiwa Ng’andu Horse Safaris offers an 8 Night / 9 Day Itinerary. All weekly itineraries begin on a Saturday and end on a Sunday each week and are generally scheduled from March through to early November.

You can also enjoy a shorter stay, with accommodation at either Impandala House or Shiwa Main House. As both properties are open all year, arrangements can be easily tailor made for you. It is suggested that a minimum of four nights is booked, as this ensures that guests make the most of their stay.

Saturday (Day 1)

You arrive at Shiwa Estate for lunch at 13.00 and then settle in to your accommodation before an introductory ride along the lake side and through the beautiful forests for approximately two hours.

Sunday (Day 2)

The Riding is split between early morning and later afternoon rides through the reserve. The rides are approximately 3 hours each. Today will also cover the History of Shiwa and will include a guided tour of the Main House and surrounding farm, antique farm equipment and original kilns.

Monday (Day 3)

Today you enjoy an all day picnic ride around the reserve, riding lakeside and through the mountain forests with lunch at the graves with a spectacular view overlooking Shiwa Ng’andu Estate.

Tuesday (Day 4)

There is an early morning ride of approximately 2 hours, and then you depart for the Big Five Area for walking safaris, with potential game viewing along the way. Arrive late afternoon for short walk followed by a bush barbecue and overnight at camp in the Big Five Area.

Wednesday (Day 5)

There is an early morning walk today, and an afternoon walk of approximately 2 to 3 hours each with relaxation during the day at Bush Camp. There is the chance of seeing some of the bigger game, but it also the best way to enjoy the flora and fauna of the area.

Thursday (Day Six)

There is an early morning departure, for the return to Shiwa Ng’andu Estate, where you will enjoy lunch and then and afternoon ride of some 3 hours through the forest.

Friday (Day 7)

There is a morning of Arena Polo! Enormous fun to be had for everyone, and it does not require any previous experience of polo, just a sense of adventure and good humour. The pitch by the lake is used, followed by a picnic on the lakeside for lunch. You return to the Manor in the late afternoon.

Saturday (Day 8)

There are morning and afternoon rides today, of approximately 3 hours each – you can enjoy game viewing and the last opportunities for long canters and gallops by the lake and on open plains.

Saturday (Day 9)

The actual daily itinerary will be determined with guests with the best interests of the group and horses in mind and taking into consideration terrain, weather conditions.
